Artist Statement
dora diaspora is a dream and a state of mind.
exhibiting publicly since 1999, joanna elizabeth archetti-farnum chooses to represent her work under the character title of her alter-ego, a combination of the name of her grandmother and a term traditionally reserved for the feelings created by forced dislocation on an entire group. why? the artist's grandmother was an awesome woman, role model, and pillar of strength and support in her life, both before and after her death. this influence, combined with the emotional and psychological effects of her own continuous relocations, make her who she is today, in the best way.
she has shown publicly in groups and solo over 50 times across the globe, won several art awards, had her work published in multiple countries as well as online, and is internationally collected. she also does portrait commissions and is currently working on a mind-bending volume entitled, the intermisunderstandings of the anti-collaborators*, to be published sometime next year.
