Artist Statement
I hope to find out the sleeping image that exists in my unconsciousness.
I make art following the inspiration found in each moment. This comes about from no plan at all, but rather the chance build up of accidental shapes, lines, and colors born from inspiration. And in these spontaneous moments, I discover the inspiration I have built up synchronizing with the sleeping image from my subconscious mind. I choose this object as if scooping it up from the bottom of my consciousness. This is how I come up with subject matter for my works.

Ali Printz : Showing her work this Thursday July 26th!
Here are some images of the work Ali will be showing at Loft594 this Thursday, her biography and artist statement!
Biography

Biography
Ali Printz is a figurative painter and printmaker based out
of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where she currently does private commissions and is
preparing a larger body of work. Her work is historically based and deals with
media imagery and manipulation from the 19th and 20th
centuries. She works with various mediums including oil, acrylic, collage, and
printmaking techniques including screen printing and lithography. She has shown
her work most recently in New York City, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and
the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria Virginia, where she was awarded best in show.
Ali was born in West Virginia and considers herself an
Appalachian artist. She has lived and worked in Spain, Panama, and Washington,
D.C before moving to NYC for graduate school. She received her BFA in Painting and
Printmaking from West Virginia University in 2009 and an MA in Contemporary Art
from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in 2012.
Artist Statement
As an Appalachian born artist I feel inspired by the
personal histories of places and people and constantly strive to represent the
unspoken, whether it be in a historical or contemporary sense. My work explores
aspects of history that have been forgotten by previous generations
Through my historical studies, I gathered the inspiration to
tackle numerous topics, each ideally to provoke and reinvent new imagery and
hopefully to inspire further research.
I am inspired by the techniques and conceptions of Gerard
Richter, Alice Neel, and Otto Dix, yet feel a tie to contemporary artists like
Marion Peck, Kehinde Wiley, and Titus Kaphar when creating. Using oil and
acrylic paint, phosphorescent pigments, printmaking techniques and found objects,
the work(s) create visual stories for observers to interpret, be it unrest or
even comical. With the focused use of Color and composition, striking eye
contact with the personalities in my paintings give the viewer an interactive
experience.
I want to bring the touch of the” artists’ hand” back into
contemporary art, with the fine labored details and deep thought process that
can challenge both the viewer and art world alike.

Daniel C. Boyer : Showing his work at Loft594 this Thursday July 26th!
Daniel C. Boyer, will be showing his work this
Thursday at Loft594!
Here is a little more info on David.
Artist Statement
My work is primarily influenced by surrealism and various methods developed by the surrealists. I start at many points but I think the end point is always a horizon over which lie more imaginative possibilities. My artwork reflects nightmare and reverie and plays over a wide range of political history, from that of the Reformation to the Soviet Union and beyond. I have painted with gouache diluted with Coca-Cola and Diet Coke and invented aspiratage, a method of making impressions in the pile of carpeting with a vacuum cleaner. I am attracted by the mysteriously dark tinting and patterning and sedimenting.
I am influenced by the characters from politics and political history, whether their legacy is positive or negative. My Artwork can be not only a reflection of fantasy and humor, but also can represent misery and even horror when these characters are confronted by compromise and the effects of accommodation to dictatorship.

Cindy Shaoul : Showing her work this Thursday July 26th!
Here is more info and images of Cindy Shaoul's work!
Biography
Biography
Cynthia Shaoul was born in New York City, 1987. She was attending Emerson College as a film media major for one year and a half, when she discovered a deep and ancestral passion for painting. Exploring the medium on her own for two years, she traveled to Israel in 2008 to explore territories new to her in both material and imaginative worlds. While there she developed unique combinations of colorful arrangements with surreal atmospheres exhibited in her works today. Interested in formal training, she moved to Hungary to attend the Budai Art Institute that same year. In 2009, she returned to NYC and entered the Art Students League, where she continues to hone her skills under the guidance of Joseph Peller, Gregg Kreutz, and Tom Torak.
Cynthia is the granddaughter of Albert Senior Nemethy, a world-renowned Hungarian artist noted mostly for his Hudson Valley work. His paintings can be found in the white house, the Kremlin in Russia, and museums in the U.S. and Hungary. Truly inspired by his collection of surrealist work, she has followed in his footsteps using a more modern approach.

July 26th Show Artist : KAS
Here is some more info on another one of our artists who will be showing work this Thursday, July 26th!
Bio
My name is Keith, KAS being my moniker, and I have dedicated my life to art and art appreciation. For as long as I have had an interest in art, I have been influenced by the traditional art I learned in Japan and New York’s gritty carefree culture. My traditional background developed in Japan, under Yamamoto Yuji and under his tutelage I learned the technicalities of watercolor and acrylic. In addition to still life, I also paint portraits and landscapes. I have a great interest in the natural condition so I would like to think that my art reflects that.
Artist Statement
The series of paintings that I have done are called “Bit by Bit.” The art that I draw is modern day still life. When I was in Japan, my art teacher helped me hone my painting skills by assigning me to paint miscellaneous still life objects like fruit, flowers, teapots, various masks and etc. I decided that I wanted to focus on my attention on painting objects that I actually like. My reasoning behind drawing simple every day modern objects is that in the future I would like people to consider the objects I painted as relics or classics; similar to the way we treat still life art now. Not only that, but I want to focus on paintings that if I were the one buying art, which objects would I prefer to hang on my wall.

Jun Jun Zhang Paintings and Photographs
Here is a preview of some of Jun Jun Zhang's work which will be displayed this Thursday, July 26th at Loft 594!
Jun Jun Zhang
Artist Statement
My work deals with themes of isolation and alienation. The comfort and peace that comes with isolation, along with its quiet eeriness and vulnerability. Alienation is similar to isolation in the sense of being alone, the difference is that it isn't voluntary, but by the choice of others.
Out of all the animal species, we have the most complex concept with our identity. We want to be our own individual person, but still be able to belong. To be unique, but not to the point of being alienated from the crowd.
In the end, it is the human condition, to want, loathe, need and be frightened of loneliness.
