Biography

Cynthia Shaoul was born in New York City, 1987. She was attending Emerson College as a film media major for one year and a half, when she discovered a deep and ancestral passion for painting. Exploring the medium on her own for two years, she traveled to Israel in 2008 to explore territories new to her in both material and imaginative worlds. While there she developed unique combinations of colorful arrangements with surreal atmospheres exhibited in her works today. Interested in formal training, she moved to Hungary to attend the Budai Art Institute that same year. In 2009, she returned to NYC and entered the Art Students League, where she continues to hone her skills under the guidance of Joseph Peller, Gregg Kreutz, and Tom Torak.

Cynthia is the granddaughter of Albert Senior Nemethy, a world-renowned Hungarian artist noted mostly for his Hudson Valley work. His paintings can be found in the white house, the Kremlin in Russia, and museums in the U.S. and Hungary. Truly inspired by his collection of surrealist work, she has followed in his footsteps using a more modern approach.
